HSE•AG attended the China Breakfast at the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco, California to get the latest information on trends in the healthcare field.
Tycho Peterson writes in the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference daily blog that the kitchen gadgets and high-tech gizmos that were Amazon’s top five best sellers for the holiday season were no real surprise. However, one best seller stood out from the others: Innovative genetic tests that enable people to unlock the secrets of their heritage and genetic health. At the "China Breakfast: Review of biotech deals and partnerships in China", two companies presented their views on the latest developments in medicine and cross-border deal landscape developments. The latest developments and changes to the CFDA regulation changes will have a hugely positive impact and accelerate developments and approvals of innovative medicines. The presentations also addressed the latest key trends in China healthcare investments. These trends are causing valuations of Chinese biotech companies to boom, will accelerate globalization through overseas mergers and acquisitions, and facilitate technology transfer through active in-licensing and out-licensing deals.
In our meetings with other companies on the BIO One-on-One Partnering™ platform, next-generation sequencing (NGS) continued to be the predominant topic in the discussions.
To switch to a completely different topic, I would like to recommend a great San Francisco experience I had today: Tartine Manufactory (http://www.tartinemanufactory.com), the mega bakery, wine bar, and restaurant. The vibe is amazing – all light wood and sky-high ceilings and Noguchi paper lanterns and custom teal ceramics from Heath. We have talked a lot over the last few days about how to build a successful business. In my opinion, Tartine Manufactory is an excellent example in another market field of how to build up sustainable success and a strong brand. If you ever have the chance, try out the Tartine bread! Tomorrow is the last day at the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference, but we still have a couple of business meetings ahead of us.
