Day 5: Final impressions of J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference

Back to overview page

The 36th annual J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco drew to a close with many discussions focused on commercialization of technologies and investment opportunities.

As mentioned in a previous post, it is now crystal clear why the annual J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference is often referred to as the Superbowl of biotech. For example, over 1,000 attendees stood in line Monday for around 45 minutes to secure a coveted place at Bill Gate’s keynote speech.

The J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference kicked off Monday with presentations from some of the giants in the life science and molecular diagnostics industries, such as Genomic Health, Foundation Medicine, QIAGEN, Myriad Genetics, Guardant, 10x Genomics, Twist Bioscience, Bruker, etc, which set the pace for the rest of the week. The high standard continued on Tuesday and Wednesday with presentations from more companies in the life science and diagnostic industries as well as lab operators: LabCorp, DiaSorin, Danaher, Exact Sciences, Hologic, Quest Diagnostics, Invitae, PerkinElmer, Quidel, Konica Minolta, GenMark, and more. More information on the presentations is available from genomeweb: https://www.genomeweb.com/business-news

The last day of the 36th annual J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference ended with an invitation from the Haas Healthcare Association (HHA) and Berkeley Center for Health Technology (BCHT) to the 2nd annual Alumni Mixer happy hour. This event brings students and alumni together and gives them the opportunity to network and make new contacts.

HSE•AG has had numerous opportunities over the last few days to meet many professionals from the life science and molecular diagnostics industries and to expand their business network. Once again, attending the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference is an invaluable experience for all companies in the industry and definitely for us.
