WELLJET Reagent Dispenser and Dispenser Stacker

Back to overview page

The development of the WELLJET Reagent Dispenser and Dispenser Stacker required a completely new approach to achieve the required precision and flexibility for modern laboratory workflows.
Through a modular design and integration of innovative peristaltic pump technology, we created two versatile instruments tailored for high-throughput environments.

Project highlights:

  • Patented plate-handling mechanism
  • Two instrument versions with shared key modules
  • User-friendly graphical use interface (GUI) via a touchscreen

A modular approach for flexibility

To meet the project’s demanding specifications, we opted for a modular design, allowing shared components between the dispenser and stacker instruments.

This approach streamlined the development process while ensuring consistency across both instruments. Designed to support a wide range of microplate formats (from 6 to 1536 wells), the system also maintained a compact footprint for easy use in laminar flow cabinets.

Precision dispensing and efficient performance

A major challenge was the integration of the client's peristaltic pump technology.

Our solution ensured precise, non-contact dispensing for applications such as ELISAs and genomic assays while balancing high throughput with minimized reagent waste.

This combination of precision and performance made the instruments highly suitable for a variety of laboratory tasks.

Intuitive design for seamless use

To ensure ease of use, we developed an intuitive GUI accessed via a large touchscreen. This design simplified workflows and minimized the need for extensive operator training. We also delivered fully functional prototypes, complete with software and firmware packages, ensuring a smooth transition to mass production.

Thanks to our close collaboration with the client, the WELLJET Reagent Dispenser and Dispenser Stacker were successfully launched, offering reliable solutions for liquid handling
